Yogic Philosophy of the Week - Satya (ethical rules)

Yoga is an eight-fold path and the first of the eight limbs of yoga is called Yamas (ethical rules). Practicing the Yamas is said to give the yogi the opportunity to live in a way that is healthier and more peaceful. The second of the five Yamas is Satya - truthfulness. Are we being as authentic as we can be? Are we living out our truths? Do our thoughts, language and actions mirror each other? Self-inquiry and meditation can be a great way to find out our truths. Meditation is always included in my classes - come and join us!

Pose of the Week - The Tree pose

The Tree pose. In many Indian traditions, trees are symbols of love and devotion. They’re quiet and steady, they live their long lives in rhythm with the natural world. You'll never be absolutely still and steady while doing the Tree pose, you’ll make countless tiny adjustments to maintain the pose. Just as a tree reacts to the wind, you are always responding to the subtle changes within your body, refining and rebalancing with every breath you take. Your standing leg should feel rooted to the earth and your arms branching out to the sky just like the roots and the branches of a tree. The more grounded you are, the easier it is to rise.

‘Root to rise.’
